Roche Bobois, a Parisian house born in 1960 from the import of Scandinavian furniture, scored one of its great successes that decade with Hans Hopfer's Mah Jong sofa (1971). This coffee table, which spent twenty years in one of the brand's showrooms, shares its taste for clean lines and shiny materials.

A slightly smoked glass top is set in a metal frame with very crisp mitred corners, resting on four square legs at the corners, each ending in a black pad. The polished metal plays with the bronze tint of the glass, and the fully open structure lets the eye pass beneath the top.

Very beautiful state of preservation for its age and use. The metal shows a lovely patina in places, the glass a pretty light smoked veil.

At 124 cm long, 69 cm wide and 33 cm high, it sits in front of a low sofa, at the centre of a living room or a reception room.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0584/5077/2174/files/photo_02_9a1ff4f2-7f8a-4b5b-bc83-e6d88a7f5aad.jpg?v=1793648974
