Italy, 1970s. The Hollywood Regency style triumphed in the most refined interiors, systematically pairing gilt brass with precious materials such as faux-tortoiseshell lacquer. This set is a complete demonstration: a box and its matching lighter.
The box, in brown faux-tortoiseshell lacquer, closes under a solid brass frame; once opened, its lid unfolds like the pages of a book. The polished brass lighter repeats the same play of materials on its upper part, with a classic flint-wheel mechanism hidden in a slim cubic case.
Very well preserved: the brass has taken on a lovely warm patina, and a few light scratches are visible under the box, nothing serious. An exceptional, complete and matching set.
At 18 cm long, 11 cm wide and 6 cm high, the box and its lighter make an elegant desk set, between function and sculpture. A piece from the golden age of Italian decorative design.
