This object illustrates post-war Italian aesthetics well: an organic, three-part, almost biomorphic form, tempered by a geometric rhythm of parallel fluting around the edge. This contrast between curve and fluting is a signature of Italian decorative design of the period.
Made entirely of solid bronze, probably cast and then hand-chased (the regular fluting and raised rim show careful workshop work), typical of 1940s Venetian production. The slightly concave central bowl has a deep golden-brown patina, contrasting with the lighter highlights of the bronze on the edges.
Original, unrestored condition. The irregular, living patina is the natural result of decades of handling and oxidation — to be preserved, not cleaned. No major damage, a few micro-marks of use consistent with the age of the piece.
