Paris, 1980s. Pierre Cardin, the visionary couturier, extended his geometric vocabulary to objects for the home, in architectural lines where golden metal dialogues with silver. This ashtray and lighter set is a sculptural expression of it.
The ashtray forms an elongated triangle in gold-toned metal, one corner extending into a block punctuated by fine silver bands. The polished silver-toned bowl bears the signature "Pierre Cardin Paris", and the name of the house is engraved on the rim. The lighter, cut in the same logic, stands on an openwork triangular foot, topped with a block of gold and silver bands and a black mechanism.
Good overall condition: the gold-toned metal keeps its shine, with light signs of use and a few micro-marks on the silver. The set is complete and perfectly matched, both pieces signed.
The ashtray measures 13 cm long, 9 cm wide and 2 cm high; the lighter 10.5 cm high. Together on a desk or a console, they make a graphic duo, both functional and decorative, typical of the Pierre Cardin spirit.
