In the 1970s, several Italian workshops explored the optical possibilities of solid plexiglass, combined with noble metals to produce office and table objects with a strong graphic presence. This catchall is part of that production: a square block of thick plexiglass, beveled on each corner, with internal facets that break down the light and reveal amber reflections depending on the viewing angle.
The central circular insert in polished brass fits precisely into the block. Its golden patina, slightly matte in places, contrasts with the transparency of the plexiglass and shows signs of regular use. Designer and publisher unidentified.
Very good overall condition. Slight traces of natural oxidation on the brass, consistent with age. Plexiglass without notable scratches, beautiful clarity.
