Between 1971 and 1974, Claire Bataille and Paul Ibens developed pared-back tubular furniture for 't Spectrum, heir to the Bauhaus research into open structure and visual lightness.
SE18 chair, produced by 't Spectrum, circa 1970. Chrome-plated tubular steel frame, seat and back in saddle-stitched stretched black leather, fixed with visible rivets and saddle stitching.
Very good condition for a piece more than 50 years old. The leather has one light, minor mark and no tears. The tubular frame is in very good condition, with no notable oxidation.
Dimensions: height 74 cm, width 48 cm, depth 40 cm.
An occasional chair for a dining room or a study, with a graphic, minimalist look that suits a contemporary interior as well as a collection of 20th-century design.
