In the 1980s, Italy continued to reissue the great tubular structures of the Bauhaus, reviving the cantilever principles formulated by Marcel Breuer from the late 1920s. This suite of four armchairs illustrates that direct lineage: cantilevered chrome frame, seat and back in stretched saddle leather, armrests in leather wrapped around the tube.

Italian manufacture, circa 1980. Chrome-plated metal frame forming a cantilever base, with no rear crossbar. Seat and back in brown leather stretched by a system of visible metal straps, armrests covered in stitched leather. Manufacturer not yet identified.

Good original overall condition. The leather has an even brown patina, with a few marks of use and micro-scratches on the backs, consistent with the age of the pieces. The chrome shows light signs of use without deep pitting. A coherent set, all four chairs sharing the same patina.

Dimensions: height 80 cm, width 58 cm, depth 56 cm.

Ideal as a set around a dining table or mixed in a study, this suite belongs in a collection of 20th-century tubular furniture.
