Within the context of Dutch modernism of the early 1960s, certain pieces were conceived as veritable architectural manifestos. This unique bench in steel and wenge wood fits perfectly within this tradition.

Commissioned specifically by an architect in the early 1960s, it has remained in the same family ever since—a rare and precious provenance. Its minimalist brushed steel structure creates a taut, almost graphic line, supporting a seat and backrest made of wide slats of solid wenge wood. The whole clearly evokes the rational and structured aesthetic developed by Kho Liang Ie in the 1960s: balanced proportions, honest materials, and a dialogue between industrial rigor and the warmth of wood.

The wenge wood has a beautiful patina, deeper towards the base, bearing witness to time and use, without obscuring the lines. The steel is in very good condition, clean and stable.

With its 190 cm length, 82 cm depth and 68 cm height, it offers a sculptural presence while maintaining a great visual lightness.

An exceptional piece for collectors, conceived as a work of art as much as a functional piece of furniture — ideal in an architectural interior or a private gallery.
