In the 1980s, Italian craftsmanship maintained a tradition of working with noble wood for tableware and personal items. Olive wood—recognizable by its tight, sinuous grain and golden and brown tones—was frequently used in small-series pieces, hand-carved and polished in the central and southern regions of Italy.
Rectangular box with a solid olive wood lid, circa 1980. The lid features recessed molding forming concentric rectangles, utilizing the natural grain of the wood to create a strong graphic effect. The interior is fully lined with cream velvet. Discreet integrated hinge. Designer and manufacturer unidentified. Italian production.
Very good overall condition. Sound wood, no cracks. Original varnish in good condition, slight surface patina consistent with age. Clean interior velvet with no visible snags.
Dimensions: length 17 cm, width 13 cm, height 6 cm.
To be placed on a dressing table, a desk, or a nightstand. Suitable for storing jewelry, watches, or small items.
