Rectangular box of Italian manufacture, 1960s. The lid is made of solid burr walnut, a wood chosen for its irregular grain and changing reflections depending on the light (each burr top is unique, making each piece slightly different from another).
The body is made of silver-plated metal (nickel-plated brass), with an unlined interior of raw metal. Neither designer nor publisher identified to date (no visible marks in the photos).
This type of association of precious wood and polished metal was common in Italian occasional furniture and desk objects of this period, often produced in small series by unsigned workshops.
Condition: good vintage condition. The metal shows a beautiful patina, with slight signs of use on the edges and inside the body, where the brass is visible under the nickel plating (nothing that detracts from the piece). The burr walnut is intact, with the natural marks characteristic of this wood.
Dimensions: 30 x 10.5 x 5 cm (L x W x H).
Use: on a desk or console, for storing small objects, mail, jewelry or office accessories. Elongated format also suitable for use as a pen or mail box.
