In the 1960s, Murano glassworks developed pieces combining thick blown glass with metal mounts, for the table and the living room. This type of ashtray illustrates work on glass thickness and colour contrast, characteristic of Venetian production of the period.
Italian ashtray, circa 1960. Thick blown-glass body, clear at the base, ringed with a band of intense blue glass. Chrome-plated metal mount forming the rim and the two cigarette rests, with rounded ends. Murano manufacture. Designer and glassworks unidentified.
Good overall condition. The glass has its original hammered texture, with no visible chips or cracks. The metal shows light oxidation and signs of use consistent with the age of the piece.
Dimensions: width 11 cm, height 6 cm.
Use it as an ashtray, a catchall tray or a decorative dish, on a console, a desk or a coffee table.
