This set of 6 “Monk” chairs, designed by Tobia Scarpa for the Italian manufacturer Molteni in the 1970s, embodies the understated elegance and functional refinement of period Italian design.
Purchased new in 1973 and kept by the same owner on the shores of Lake Como, these pieces present a beautiful overall homogeneity. The original wood and black leather display an authentic patina, highlighting the quality of the materials and the care taken in their manufacture. In their original condition but in very good condition, they bear witness to respectful use and an intact charm after more than 50 years.
With its simple, robust and balanced lines, the “Monk” model stands out for the tension between the rigor of the solid wood structure and the flexibility of the stretched leather that forms the seat and backrest.
Each chair measures 75 cm in height, 52 cm in width and 45 cm in depth.
