Italy, 1980s. In the spirit of Italian design of that decade, where glossy black and tinted glass go hand in hand, here is a pair of nesting tables of great graphic clarity, found in Milan.
Each table combines a slightly smoked glass top, set in a black lacquered wooden frame with rounded corners, with four legs whose outer edge follows the same curve, underlined by a fine joint line. The small table slides under the large one to form a single compact volume, or comes apart to be used separately.
Good overall condition: the glass is in good condition, and the black lacquer shows only slight signs of use, mostly at the bottom of the legs.
The large table measures 55 cm wide and 46 cm high, the small one 31 cm wide and 32 cm high. Together or apart, they sit beside a sofa, an armchair or a bed, and hold a lamp, a book or a glass.
