In the 1970s and 1980s, Italian design adopted the vocabulary of chrome tubular furniture to create occasional pieces with light, graphic lines. This round coffee table illustrates that "Space Age" vein, driven by the rise of chrome and glass in the homes of the period.
Chrome-plated metal frame, made of four curved tubular legs meeting in a double central column, supporting a round glass top. Italian manufacture, circa 1980. Designer and manufacturer unidentified. The piece comes from Milan.
Good overall condition. A lovely patina on the chrome, consistent with the age of the piece.
Dimensions: diameter 100 cm, height 47 cm.
An occasional piece for a living room, to pair with a sofa or armchairs from the 1970s–80s, or as a centre table in a more contemporary interior.
