Italy, 1970s. Solid plexiglass, much loved by Italian designers of the decade, readily lends itself to inserts of metal. This square catchall tray is a pared-back version.
The perfectly clear plexiglass block holds at its centre a removable, slightly concave round chrome dish. The contrast between the clear mass of the plexiglass and the cool shine of the metal creates a crisp, graphic object.
Good overall condition: the plexiglass remains clear and the chrome dish keeps its shine, with no notable dents or scratches.
At 15 cm square and 2.5 cm high, this catchall tray finds its place on a desk or a console, for keys or small objects. A sober, functional object, typical of 1970s Italian design.
